Now playing on my MP3 player…

“The General” Dispatch
“Freshmen” The Verve
“Drops of Jupiter” Train
“Classical Gas” Eric Clapton
“Californication” Red Hot Chili Peppers
“Sometimes You Can’t Make it on Your Own” U2
“Blue and Yellow” The Used
“Robin Hood Prince of Thieves” John Williams

 And since it’s a 32mb player… that’s it.

And since I accidentally stored my transfer cord, that’s all it has been all summer, and all it will be til I get back to school.  What started as a jogging mix, turned into my everything mix for an extended period of time.  I have to say though, if you keep listening to the same songs over and over again, you really get past the point of annoyance, to an acceptance of such a repetitive fate…  I think I now know by heart The General, Freshmen, and Drops of Jupiter.  Classical Gas is acoustic, and I’m usually to my destination before I get any farther than that.  It’s a real treat to be able to make it to the end of the list and experience the grandeur that is Robin Hood…

So for anyone who didn’t get a chance (or didn’t want) to see me while I was back home, I was bored and thought about how I’ve changed over the last two years.  This list is in no ways comprehensive, but is basically what randomly popped into my head.

 Since high school, I still…
…spend far too much time on the computer.
…only wear jeans.
…say “pop”
…have my hair split down the middle.
…randomly doodle, everywhere.
…have horrible work ethic.
…love driving.
…am willing to ride my bike and/or walk far greater distances than the normal person.
…am sarcastic.
…mainly wear a button down buttoned, but not tucked in.
…will put homework behind other things
…still enjoy a game of DDR. :)
…am 5’ 10”
…hate jogging
…find no greater joy than torturing my sister.
…pirate songs and software
…enjoy singing out loud when nobody can hear me.  Except maybe Anna, but i guess that falls under the torturing the sister category.
…still suck at keeping in touch with people.
…enjoy long walks on the beach and candlelit dinners… ;)

 But, nowadays, I…
…will miss a class or two. (leaning towards two…)
…spend little time on AIM.
…wear glasses
…say “hella” instead of “very” or “hell of” on occasion.
…color my doodles w/ photoshop
…undertake more random projects
…don’t mind working an 8 hour day, as long as the day starts later than 10am.
…pull all-nighters on a whim.
…have defined the “point-of-no-return” of all-nighters as 5am.
…decide that after 5am, it’s better to go ride to the dish and watch the sunrise rather than sleep.
…eat a well balanced diet.
…go jogging at midnight.
…go to late-night dining after jogging and eat large amounts of greasy, disgusting food.
…watch the Daily Show, Family Guy, and am eagerly awaiting the new season of Scrubs.
…find nothing wrong with knocking mice out, “sacrificing” them, draining their blood, and cutting out their tibias.
…generally curse more.
…more or less know what I’m doing with my life.
…can cook.
…know how to walk a dog.
…don’t drink soda.  …errr… I mean pop!

Wheee…?

So yeah.

Two posts within a six month period.  I hope you all feel blessed.

Hmm.  It's been so long since I've written in this that I forgot my password.  Had to try it like... 5 times.  Having Jin visit inspired me to revisit this site.  After all, he does write in it fairly often.

Anyways, back in A2 in 5 days!  If only there wasn't a slight roadblock in that time...

Um yeah.  I've forgotten what people write in these things... so I guess I'll put up some random pictures of stuff I've done over the last year instead of homework , studying for tests, and being a productive college student at all...

First off... a little pet project of mine that I finally finished.  It's silly, it's stupid, and it proves that I should be looking more into electrical engineering than medicine.  But oh well...
I bring you...
The
Portable
Super
Nintendo
Yay!  *cough*  I'm a dork.

Next up, A few desktops that I doodled for myself.  Studying for the MCAT causes my mind to drift and me to doodle.  Also, I have to say that drawing with a mouse on computers is ridiculously inconvenient.
Current Desktop
Older Desktop

Secondly, a friend and I developed an increased facination with figuring out ways to get onto the roofs of various buildings on campus.  This was the inevitable result...
It's higher than it looks...
A different perspective.
And, finally, a close up.

And finally, I'm going to be the resident run-to-me-with-your-computer-problems person in my dorm next year.  This assures me a single, and all I have to do is tell people to reformat their computers whenever it isn't working properly! :)
So yeah, as dorm staff, we did a dorm theme thing and I got to play around with photoshop.
Original
Edit
I don't currently have the picture of my dorm (Castano) that I editted into that picture...
I'm not really satisfied with how the edit blends with the original, but I'm too lazy now to tweak it, so it'll pretty much remain the way it is.

Well, that's it for now.  Due to a long complicated story about losing phones, finding phones, and deactivating phones, I've lost a vast majority of your phone numbers, so I'll leave it up to you guys to call. :)  I'll be in town from Aug 22nd to Sept 11.  Which I just realize now is a rather weird day to be flying a cross country flight for Cali.  o_O

Alrighty, I'm off!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  Slightly belated, but oh well.

I hope everyone had fun at home or with friends and had far too much turkey for their own good.

Thanksgiving day for me was in San Francisco, wandering the streets with some friends until I left them and had dinner with a family friend.  Good food, good company.  What more can someone ask for on turkey day?

Yesterday, however, was the real adventure.  We, the few remaining peeps in the dorm, decided to go on a day hike.  Here are some pics to illustrate our journey.  (Click any of them for a higher resolution pic)

The feast before the journey.  Assuming this was a 10 mile hike that we would finish in approximately 4 hours, we decided against carrying much food with us on the road.  Well... at least we brought water.

It was a pleasant forest, with redwoods on both sides of the road.  So far, very enjoyable.

What a pleasant bridge!  One of the rest stops we made along our journey.  Remember this bridge...

Whoa!  We found an old, rusted 1950s truck in the middle of the forest!  Too bad it'd been stripped of its engine.  One of the cool finds of the day.

What the heck?  Why are we back at this bridge?  Yep.  We'd managed to get lost and go in a big circle that added about 4 miles and 2 hours to our hike.  Can we still make it back before the sun sets?

Uh-oh... suns starting to go down, and we've still got 8 miles...

Stopping for a little food and a breather, while gazing at the beautiful view.

Gorgeous sunset.  A picture cannot do it justice.  Unfortunately, we've still got 5 miles to go.

Well... its dark now.  Really, really dark.  4 miles to go, with our only light source being...

Little keychain LEDs!  For our 9 people, we had 3 LED keychains, 1 weak flashlight, and camera flashes to light our way.

Anyways, we finally escaped the forest, 7 hours after we started.  We had hiked 4 miles in darkness in two hours without nearly enough light.  Ravenously, we attacked the nearest restaurant, where I had a scone.  Yum... scones...

I guess the moral of the story is... always bring light.  And food.  And bear mace.  Just in case.  And definately go hiking, because this was one of the best experiences I've ever had.

Well, time to get some work done.  Hope everyone had as much fun as I did over the long weekend!

Well, made my xanga slightly less painful to read.

A note about the background picture.  This was drawn during my bio midterm.  On the front cover of the midterm.  I enjoy doodling during midterms because its good for relaxing the mind.  I'm especially proud of this doodle because its done in pen.  Woo.

Makes me wonder if I would have done better on the test if I spent those 10 doodle minutes looking over stuff again...

Anyways, It's late, and I need to finish studying.

'nite all.

-Andrew

PS:  My bio TAs are cool because they give me feedback about my doodles.

Hey all... long time no post.

As you probably found out from Anna, my family's AIM screennames collectively died.  So I finally got a new one.  Now I'm Vampiric Kermit.  Mainly because Jose de la Mancha was taken.  I'm really tired.  I'm taking a nap now.

Good night.

-Andrew

PS:  And Dustin, if you're reading this, the Cal band got owned last night.  Buahahaha
